Today, I am catching up on the clothes, making some calls, working on an art piece, watching for storms. Here is a recent piece completed.
This snowmen piece is 11x14, was a commissioned piece for a grandmother of her grandkids. She was a very dear friend of my mother though quite a bit younger than my mom. I know, it looks really odd to see the guns, but both these grandsons are hunters. Also, the MF on the bottom, middle one's camo cap does NOT stand for what may first come to mind! It is a place near the gulf called Mo' Fishin'. These grandchildren range in age from high school to college age.

Crawling Out of My Bloghole
Sooooo, for awhile there was no new art, no news really, too much playing around with time killing forms of communication and wedding stuff. I got back to art and joined a couple of groups as well. One, is the Ascribing Artists and those that choose to are exhibiting at the Art League this month. I have a difficult time choosing what to submit, did this 9x12 pencil drawing just below just in time. The opening reception was canceled due to the tornado storms in our area last Friday. We were fortunate once again to not be directly affected but I personally know some that have. Hazel Green, Athens, New Market, Harvest, many of these areas have been seen on the national news. Some people lost there homes for the second time in 10 months, unbelievable. The tornadoes certainly seem to take similar paths, I think it has to do with the mountains, water, etc. Anyhow, my prayers to all across our nation, so sad.

I certainly hope all have been well, will be catching up with everyone.

An Apple A Day........
While waiting to dispense treats or be tricked, I finished up this candy apple that I started last week. VolleyGirl has been out of school last week and until Wednesday this week while her high school's brand new school was being finished up and making a move. She also had outside senior photos early Saturday morning, will post on that later this week. This meant picking out four outfits for that and all that goes with it. Hope everyone's Halloween was pleasant....can't believe the time has slipped by again!!!!

Serious Valentine Day Sentiments
Last year, some of you may recall that I snacked on the practically all-sugar conversation hearts that are widely available during the season of love. Stopping to read the writing on the little, tasty treats made me think.....what if they could take healthy foods and put little quirky sayings on them? Tonight, I did a couple of quick color pencil drawings with the similar idea, though I did not make them heart-shaped as last year. Please, don't tell me, this squash isn't romantic.....well, perhaps the strawberry is a bit more sensuous.
I do believe they speak for themselves. Oh crap, I did a horrible job on the shadowing! Did I mention these were quick? May you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day whether you have a sweetie or not.You know, go buy a bag of conversation hearts, you can at least have conversation with SOME type of sweetie! Whatever your sweetheart gives you, be appreciative. Years ago, one of my friends received a dustbuster from her boyfriend for V'day......doesn't that just suck?!? I realize that is the purpose of them, but that gift was a two-fold sucker. They did not end up married - shocker. Probably best that I just leave it with Happy Valentine's Day to all my blogger friends......may your flowers live long and the chocolate not go to your hips! Friday, February 27, 2009
Award, Image and Volleyball
I was blessed and thrilled to receive this 'Friends' award from A Woman Of No Importance a couple of days ago. Thank you soooo much, I return the award back to you tenfold. I have recently made many new friends so it will be difficult to choose.
"These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these kind writers. When you pass the award along please include these guidelines. I am to choose eight friends to share this with." 8 friends, out of many, that have been supportive, friendly and just good fun include:
Thank you to all my 'old' and new blog friends!
The colored pencil quick sketch above is the softer image created with Mim in mind.....
Finally, two day volleyball tournament in our town this weekend but work starts tonight. Will be having a tougher time checking my site and visiting yours. Tomorrow morning we arrive at 7:30 for some hours of vball.....go VolleyGirl!!!!
