Life Can Be A Whirlwind: Update

UPDATE: Tornado warning sirens have went off for the sixth time now, storms keep popping up and coming in, not over yet by far. Local stations have been like the photo above all day long. VolleyGirl's school ended up closing, other schools in the area made the bad decision to open late then 2 to 3 hours later had to close and send kids home, some during bad weather. Already making up days due to winter snow and knew they would have to make up today if they close......now they will and also catch grief for their bad decision after it's all over. Damage in surrounding areas, some flooding, none horrific yet, but a very bad storm right now south of us, seeing a tornado on the ground there now. Bad tornado hit in at least two towns, still going.

Woke up early to dodge tornadoes today, probably all day since our area is the bullseye in highest risk today. School delayed two hours already with a message that they could close early or decide to be closed all day. Pushed His Majesty out the door at 5:20 this morning before it became really bad. Note about my last post...BigBoy's wedding date is May 14 of 2012, not next month.

SkyWatch Friday: The 'Ansel Adams' Edition

These photos were taken this week courtesy of 'snap driving', carefully, of course.
This week has been rain, rain and more rain. Today will be - rain, as will tomorrow and Sunday. I'm showing signs of slight mold.........between storms and after them makes for some great photos though.
I can't explain how my phone accidentally was set on black and white.....but I got some great pics before I changed it back and decided to just show black and white today.
One day this week an F2 tornado came through and part of its path was less than 2 miles from us. We were listening to the weather at the time. Some of the area was without power, lucky for us, we were not!
An F2 is a relatively mild tornado, F1 being the mildest. Many trees were uprooted, large limbs down, some windows blown out and a deck blown away. We have been warned for days of trees falling with the oversaturated ground. Needless to day.....everything is super green!!! Weekend forecast: MORE RAIN! Go to http://skyley.blogspot.com/ for a peek at some awesome sky photos!

Lately........

I've been feeling some better but still have so much to do, don't know where to start. Thank you so much to all of you that have left such uplifting comments, it feels good to have such good friends. I really have no where to go but up, working on it!
Last Wednesday, our town had the distinction of becoming the first in our state to have the swine flu. Schools were out last Thursday and Friday, to the delight of VolleyGirl and her friends. Most of them opened today but the elementary ones are still closed.
It has also been raining for days....buckets and buckets. We were dealing with a leak too, so we were constantly going in the attic. Mr. Unplugged and I worked on getting a gutter cleaned out yesterday and both got soaked, we feared it would break....finally got it. I still have not had time for art and when I do get back to it, feel I should be working on something to post on ebay or getting prepared for a show. I am trying to keep my mind away from all that needs to be done and focus on what I can do just today. Wanted to share some art, so here is one of two portraits in ink that my son did as his final assignment for a class last week. He comes home this Friday for the summer!!!!!! I can't wait to see him, though the cooking and washing will go up I fear. Have a great Monday everyone!

Sprucing up the Space and Let it Shine!

I found a carousel for my brushes and pens yesterday. I was perusing one of my favorite stores - TJMaxx and had decided to put back a $7 item since I didn't have cash. I spotted it on an aisle on the top shelf. I was not looking for one there, was going to look at Hobby Lobby. There were several there in natural, white and a dark wood. It really wasn't a good price to me but liked it so much I paid $19 for it. Usually I find when I walk away from something that I like to look at other places first...I find myself going back to get it. Waiting to complete my workspace organization before taking photos.
We have been making up for the past two years drought and when we have a day or two without rain it is awesome! I have never been so tired of the rain. Apollo is not fond of going out to do his business either and of course all the grass coming into the house-more fun. Two days ago the water was up and some areas around us were flooding. We had lots of new washed out potholes but they were filled this morning as I drove VolleyGirl to school. Just look at the sunshine that greeted us!

Hot Holidays and Reverence

The weather has been atrocious here for days and days. Too warm and rain. Rain, rain and then....more rain. Frosty doesn't have a chance around here! Forecast: rain. The Canine Messiah (Apollo) had to check out the display of the real Messiah. No, he did not bring with him a gift of kibble.....he would have long eaten that. Colored pencil sketch.
