"Display Eve"

Started this Sunday and worked on it some last night and today. Also have another snowman well on the way. These ornaments won't be floating when I'm finished. I shade in pencil first then add color pencil and shade a bit more with those. I go ahead and color the ball as I finish to avoid pencil smears. These are fairly large, each is around four inches across, will be an 8x10. Hopefully finish it tonight to take tomorrow to my friend's open house event. 8x10 graphite and color pencil
I know, you've seen one snowman, you've seen them all....but all are a little different, no two alike. The detail and color doesn't show up real well. I gave my previous Alabama snowman to my future daughter-in-law and her family as a little gift for the new house they just moved into so I had to get another ready for tomorrow's event. Sorry, I haven't been around to everyone....been trying to catch up on laundry and draw after being away with the hubs, had a good time. Promise to catch up soon. Keep your fingers crossed for me on Wednesday!!!!

Final Approach!

18x24 acrylic painting

Literally finished this 20 minutes ago and will get it framed later today. This is totally different theme and style from what I usually do, it just kept popping up in my head so I gave in to it. This style was much faster to paint of course except for the black lines. Yesterday I painted, got that all important haircut, purchased a canopy (got the salesperson to take off $30), purchased S hooks and curtain hooks, plastic poultry "wire", son made a form for me, have business cards/holder out, notebook/pen ready, ropped off 5 paintings to be framed (are ready!) finished the university snowmen and sketched a Santa hat for color pencil.

I already have a possible five snow piece orders. Going to paint on my 8x8 painting, frame some drawings here, pick up framed pieces, get my tablecloth and set up the canopy and table this evening at the festival!

4x5 graphite and color pencil

I am beginning to get a bit nervous and excited.

Hoping to get all of it completed and get a half decent night of sleep since I have stayed up the past two night past 1:00 drawing. Would be nice to get to a place where I feel able to take a break and catch up leaving comments.

Weather Outside Could Be Frightful!!!!!

The food, batteries, and salt have all been purchased, waiting now for the snow to start!!! We are in North Alabama and expect anywhere from 3-10 inches, down here that's almost paralyzing. Had to make preparations for the storm and to send BigBoy back to school today to avoid it all. He may get more ice where he is, miss him already. Will catch up with all soon as long as we get more snow than ice, keeping our electricity! VolleyGirl and I are thinking of snow statue ideas, if snow cooperates.

Wednesday Dribble

The past days have been busy, working, guys went out of town overnight, this chosen one was a pill while they were gone and I have been working more. VolleyGirl's atheletic banquet is tonight. Hope to catch up with you all soon. Here's a sketch BigBoy did recently. Hope you all have a great Animal Wednesday!

Long Sigh............

Sorry that I have been missing.....was watching the Royal One from Sunday night till last night. He is constantly looking for something to get into, so it is similar to watching a toddler, not letting him put anything in his mouth or get upstairs. It's a constant up and down thing from the chair so unless he settles down and goes to sleep, I can't do anything. I try not to put him in the crate cause he is in there when I leave the house. This week, both VolleyGirl and I had eye appointments, I had a dental cleaning and went to the coffeehouse for that photo. I was able to do this scribble last night after the Mr. came home. Nothing has sold at the coffeehouse. I got all my art scanned in and put on my laptop this week. They come up in photoshop so I will have to work on the brightness, etc. there. I have been supposed to be learning photoshop, illustration, etc. since getting the software last summer..............if I would get proficient in those, I would look for work in that area. I will be hired at the company I interviewed with but the information from my background check has not returned yet.......fingers crossed.....hahahaha. Now, ugh, I must address my eating......perhaps I am attempting suicide by food. Unfortunately, it is my comfort (in the moment), my go to when stressed, upset, sometimes even anger and then there's that extremely pleasant explosion to my buds -but it has to stop. It is so much easier said than done but do it I must. It's not a matter of hunger, yes, I know how to do it. Probably the worst is inconvenience. Not very helpful that exercise is next to impossible but it is what it is so I must do what must be done and stop being a wimp about it. It will not solve all of life's problems but it will sure make life more tolerable. More on this later......or shall I say less on this later. Hope to catch up with comments soon, forgive me.

"Botanically Challenged"

This 'flower' obviously sprang up from alien dirt.....did this a few weeks ago right before going to bed. Forgot about it until I was at Starbucks the other day and flipped through my little sketchbook.

Been very busy with vball and this week will be one of the busiest. We also leave for a three night trip almost six hours away after a match this Thursday night. I also must paint a 8x10 painting for a raffle prize this Thursday night. Hopefully, I can find some time to catch up with your posts soon....I'll try.

Christmas Update

Christmas has been busy, shopping, wrapping, baking, cooking, washing, running around. I feel like a mac truck slammed into me but I so far made it this far! I admit to being one of those that struggles during the holidays mentally but the busyness helps that though it hurts physically. SuperSpouse, BigBoy, VolleyGirl and I have had a wonderful time and will continue making memories for a week more before BigBoy goes back to school. The weather has continued to be atrocious with rain but it let up enough on Christmas Eve and Day to give us a dry holiday! I'm still not ready to return to cooking but apparently the Christmas meals have worn off and they are all hungry....

I have been unable to sketch or paint and have a bit of clean up to do before I can. Here's a very quick and rough pencil drawing I did right before Christmas. Christmas photos to come soon!
